Forest Fire : Strict Punishment for People Who Burn

Forest fires have
become a seasonal phenomenon in Indonesia. The number of forest fires in Indonesia’s forest is still increase year by year, including in Borneo Island
that has a lot of forests. Indonesia has struggled for years to contain forest
fires, especially in the islands of Kalimantan and Sumatra, and forest fires also
being other countries’ problem in this world. This forest fires’ problem no
longer will be a big problem that can be effect on human life. The effect can
be dangerous for human, more than 28 million people in Indonesia were affected
by the crisis and more than 140.000 reported respiratory illness because the
effect of it. And also many bad impacts caused by the effect of forest fires. The
various ways has been made to decrease and stop this burning forest problem,
but until now this problem still unfinished. To clear the problem about burning
forest, we should give strict punishment to people who burn the forest because
some reasons.
The first thing is giving strict punishment will make society think again to do the burn when they want to open the field by burning the forest, because it is a law. A strong law and strict punishment is needed for people who burn the forest. At this time, the Indonesian authorities appear to have no power to control this problem. The law is still weak about this thing. A law gives powerful effect on the society and the rules will be binding on everyone, included people who want burn the forest. If there is a strong law and the rules, people who want to burn the forest at least have to think twice if they want to do it because burning the forest will break the rules and they will get the punishment.
The second reason is strict punishment as firm actions to make people who burn the forest feel deterrent. It gives deterrent effect to them. The deterrent effect would be devastating to people who burn the forest. The deterrent effect will give awareness to themselves, for the mistake that they made and all the consequences that will they get if they do it. The punishment will have a bad impact to themselves who burn the forest. They will realize the mistake they have done, because it was dangerous and bad for others. Forest fires concerning the life of living creatures that will greatly impact in human life. Because it’s related to human life, a firm action to give strict punishment should be given because without rules and punishment the people will be free to burn the forest.
Another reason is giving strict punishment is appropriate way to punish people who burn the forest because the bad effects of forest fires would endanger human life. Forest fires that happened can be extremely dangerous, causing damage to property and causing humans and wild animals to lose their lives and homes. Forest has many functions, such us trees provide oxygen for all living creatures, save water, and home for some animals. The fires has significant on the sustainability of ecosystems living creatures, and this is cannot be tolerated and must be punish for those who burn the forest, because it is relating to human life that very precious for all human being, the punishment can be a best way to make them realize it.
From the strict punishment that given to those who burn the forest, it is one way to make people afraid and it can control the people to who wants open and burn the forest. They cannot easily want to burn and open the land or the forest for other purposes, as there are rules and punishment will be given to those who burn the forest. Others who know the punishment definitely don’t want to make a mistake and get the punish because of burning the forest, it can makes other people will not follow the people who get the punishment, punishment is one way to make people afraid, it can be a strongest gun for those who wants burn the forest to make them afraid of the punishment. It also forest fires is dangerous for human and ecosystem, will be many negative effects of forest fires hat what they did was wrong.
People may say that strict punishment will not be effective because giving punishment can’t make the people who burn the forest realize their fault by themselves, they may be do it again after they got the punishment and will burn the forest again and again. But if the people who want to burn the forest don’t get the punishment, they will be freely burn the forest because the lack of rules and luck punishment. It will make the situation more severe. The punishment still has the function itself, from the rules and the punishment society who wants burn the forest cannot do it. To control people who those want to open field and wants to burn the forest for business and other things, the rules and punishment can be effective. Self-awareness will emerge with his own judgment that they have acquired. Because self-awareness depends on the individual itself and cannot be imposed, so there must be such as a punishment for themselves.
And also people may say that to make people who burn the forest realize their fault, the self-awareness is more important than just giving strict punishment. Actually, punishment is more important because punishment is the action to make them realize it properly with the fault that they made. It is the real result what they have done of criminal case, it can be criminal case because it is related to human life and dangerous for everyone, included animals and other things. And also punishment is a way to redirect the behavior and settle it. It able to provide a deterrent effect and be aware of their fault that have been made. So, punishment is also important, not only the self-awareness that is important.
In conclusion, we should give strict punishment to people who burn the forest as it is an offense and giving punishment is appropriate way for people who burn the forest rather than just giving them the awareness to themselves, because punishment is also needed. Therefore, society and government must resolve this problem. The suggestion is that society have to take care the forest, not only society but also the government have to do the action by make a strong law for who burning the forest, make the rules and keep the forest for human life. Forest is human life because forest is precious. We all must to protect our forest for our life and give the people who burn the forest an appropriate punishment in appropriate way.
