Should a Woman Work?
As we know, we live in modern era which is all information can be found in easily. We can easy to get what I want and what we want to learn. This modern era also makes some women to get job as better as men’s job. Especially qualified or education women, they insist to work in an effective career and get their own money. It will be hard choice when the women have got married and she will choose whether she wants to be a career woman or a housewife. “The rush of married women into the workforce runs against traditional thinking that women must choose between family and career. Many observers condemned working mothers as selfish, unnatural and even dangerous to their children and society” (Wilson, 2006). Three fourth of women were in the workforce and of these a third did not take maternity leave despite being eligible for the same, and about a quarter (24%) were ineligible for maternity leave for various reasons. Public sector employees availed of most of the maternity leave. As much as half of the women who did not take maternity leave in the private sector were actually unaware of these options. Working in the public sector, a strong attachment to the workforce, trade union memberships, and education were some factors that affected leave taking amongst working mothers (Glezer, 1988). This issue becomes pro and contra in our society. Some people agree that the women must have an individual finance and others are disagreeing.
The first reason why women should work is women need to develop and had interaction with others. Working women also help the family finance, she may help her husband. They are working to fulfill their desire or to supplement the family income. As stated by Wilson (2006) many working women said that they worked because they ‘needed’ the money and which they defined as specific material goods-an extra lesson, additional clothes, a vacation, furniture, owning a home, car or even just a television-arguing their work was bringing a rise in the family's standard of living. Both men and women had material and emotional expectations for better standards of living and a working wife could add considerably to achieving those goals (Wilson, 2006). In working outside the home, they create a new environment, and they will learn and ask about up to date information, so they will adapt the environment itself. She learns a lot of key "life skills" from that environment such as time management, communication, how to solve the problem and so on. Her understanding as human being will be improved.
The second reason why women should work is the woman is a role model in a family, so when they are working, they will teach their family how important to be independent. It is really important, because when a woman works to earn money, she can understand and appreciate the value of money a lot more. Besides, she also understands the value of time. The working women has to keep convincing of their surroundings, for they are working not only for getting money, but also for a better family. It is well known that employment has positive effects on the mother (Barnett, 2004). There is an underlying assumption that the roles of mother and wife have relatively less stress, as they are natural roles, whereas the role of employee, being unnatural, is therefore highly demanding. This may question the ability of a woman to handle multiple roles without significant ill effects. There is also considerable rhetoric on the relationship of this unnatural employment to many social evils including juvenile delinquency and drug addiction (Barnett, 2004). Many families also will not earn enough money to properly support their children if the mother doesn't work, especially a single mother. Even if the father earns enough money for them to live on, the child will live more comfortably if the mother is earning a wage too.
Some people may say this idea is weird; some people disagree of working women. People said that women should be taken off by their husband. They do not need working. Women need to adopt the traditional homemaker role. The women need to be a housewife after getting married. It is really needed for our future children. Actually, become a housewife is not fully wrong. However, we need a woman who are independent and open minded. We need a smart woman to change the world. Especially job that needed women to do, such as midwife and also teacher .According to Wilson (2006) working women changed the image of a good mother from one who stayed at home to one who also took on extra burden for her family's benefit. This would however not recognize the working mother as an important member of the workforce and an important worker in her own right! It is possible for a working mother to defend her right to work in a number of ways. A less affluent member of society would simply say it brings in much needed extra money. A woman from a better class of living would say she has more money to spare and is utilizing her talents and skills to the best effect. In either case, the most important aspect is that it shouldn‘t affect the health and well-being of their children in any way. In any case, “having to work” takes away much of the problems a working mother has to face. As long as the women can manage their time between working and household, it will be okay for them to get a job or working as a woman career outside their home.
In conclusion, being a woman is a blessed from God. When a woman decided to work, it will be better for her to improve and develop her life skill. It depends on what kind of job itself.  If the women choose to work, they tend to appreciate time. They will learn how to manage time automatically. They will teach their family how important to be independent. It is really important, because when a woman works to earn money, she can understand and appreciate the value of money a lot more. Actually, both being a career woman or a housewife has their own benefit and weakness. So, it is a woman’s duty whether she wants to be a career woman or a housewife. It is their own duty to decide which one is better and suitable for their needs.
